I’ve defended hundreds of lawsuits brought by National Collegiate Student Loan Trust over the past 7 years. I’ve shared my insights by writing countless articles about the company, and have spoken at dozens of bar events around the country in an effort to teach people about how National Collegiate works. Beyond that, I helped educate over 300 graduates of The Student Loan Law Workshop about the issues presented by National Collegiate Student Loan Trust and private student loan entities.
In short, I’m no stranger to this particular private student loan entity. As the first lawyer to spend so much time sharing my knowledge about National Collegiate online, the content I’ve created around the subject has garnered quite a bit of exposure. That makes me happy because I enjoy helping lawyers, financial professionals and student loan borrowers. Unfortunately, there’s a negative aspect to this exposure as well.
The entities that comprise National Collegiate Student Loan Trust don’t have a central office or means of contact, and people who type the company name into a search engine are likely to land on this site. For some reason, many of these searchers assume that my office is the proper address for service.
In fact, over the past 5 years some of the things I’ve received include:
- Chapter 13 bankruptcy trustee checks;
- Letters from borrowers;
- Notice of Commencement of bankruptcy cases filed by people who owe money to NCSLT;
- Subpoenas to appear in courts around the country on behalf of National Collegiate; and
- Complaints filed by borrowers, consumer protection lawyers, and government entities against one of the trusts.
This ends up cluttering my mailbox, forcing my staff to take time from client matters to make phone calls and redirect the mail. In fact, I once spent over an hour on the phone with a court clerk in Georgia trying to convince them that they’d served the subpoena incorrectly.
With that in mind, let’s set the record straight.
I don’t represent National Collegiate Student Loan Trust
I am a student loan lawyer who helps people with their student loan problems.
My office defends lawsuits brought in New York and California by student loan companies such as National Collegiate Student Loan Trust, Navient, and the US Department of Education.
We represent people who need to file for bankruptcy protection.
We help people resolve their federal student loan problems and provide advice about consolidation, rehabilitation, loan forgiveness and discharge, income-dependent repayment options, and other administrative remedies.
If you need help with a student loan problem, I might be able to help you. But one thing is certain:
I am not National Collegiate Student Loan Trust, and I don’t have any connection with this entity. You should not send any legal papers to my office with the expectation that they will get to National Collegiate.

How to contact National Collegiate Student Loan Trust
National Collegiate Student Loan Trust does not have a single office location; rather, the entities are governed and controlled by different companies. For example, servicing is handled by AES when the loan is in repayment, forbearance or deferment; defaulted loans are overseen by TransWorld Systems, Inc. (though there’s litigation concerning a new player, Odyssey Education Resources, LLC).
For that reason, I recommend that you send any documents to all of the following places to maximize the likelihood that your mail goes to the right place:
